Brain Snap Privacy policy
Brain Snap privacy policy
Brain Snap (“the app”) is a set of fun daily brain games made by Emberkite (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have.
The short version
- You can play every game without an account. Without one, your games and stats stay on your device.
- Online features (leaderboards, friends, challenges and a player profile) are optional and only start if you choose to sign in (with Google or as a guest).
- The free version shows ads from Google AdMob, which may use your advertising ID. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent first. Brain Snap Pro, a one-time purchase, removes ads.
- We don’t use an analytics SDK and we don’t sell your data.
- You can delete your online account and data at any time inside the app.
Information stored only on your device
Your game scores, streaks, statistics, personal bests, difficulty choices and settings (theme, sound, haptics and the optional daily reminder) are stored on your phone. The daily reminder is a notification scheduled on your device; no push service or server is involved. Whether you’ve bought Pro is also remembered on your device so Pro works offline. This information may be included in your device’s standard Android backup, which you and Google control.
Information collected if you use online features
If you sign in, we store the following in Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore):
| Data | Why we use it |
|---|---|
| A random account ID (Firebase user ID) | To identify your account. |
| Your email address (Google sign-in only) | Held by Firebase Authentication to sign you in. It’s never shown to other players or stored in your public profile. Guest sign-in uses no email. |
| Username, chosen avatar, optional country flag | Shown to other players on leaderboards, friends lists and challenges. |
| Optional profile photo (only if you add one) | Shown to other players instead of your avatar. The app crops it to a small square and compresses it on your phone before upload. You can remove it at any time in Profile › Edit profile. |
| Your Google account’s profile picture link (Google sign-in only) | Shown as your picture when you haven’t added your own photo. We store only the link Google provides. You can remove it in Profile › Edit profile › Remove photo. |
| Game results (daily skill scores, Daily Workout total, Target Number solve time), XP, level, streak and personal bests | To show leaderboards, your profile and your friends’ scores. |
| Friend code, friend connections, friend requests and players you’ve blocked | To provide the friends feature. |
| Friend challenges (the game, puzzle seed, both players’ names, avatars and scores, status and time) | To run a challenge between two friends. Only the two players can see it. |
| Reports you send about other players (reason, details, your account ID) | To moderate offensive names or photos and cheating. |
| Feedback and game ideas you send in the app (type, message, app version, your account ID, and an email address only if you type one) | To read and reply to your suggestions. Only Emberkite can read it. |
Who can see it: other signed-in players can see your username, avatar or photo, country flag, level and XP, streak and scores. Only you can see your block list. Only the people involved can see a friend request or a challenge. Only Emberkite can see reports and feedback.
Other Emberkite games: Emberkite: Mini Golf can use the same Google sign-in, but it has its own separate account, profile, friends and scores. Brain Snap doesn’t read or change Mini Golf data, and Mini Golf doesn’t read or change Brain Snap data.
Service providers and third parties
- Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) stores online-feature data for us. Firebase privacy and security.
- Google Play services provide Google sign-in (through Android’s Credential Manager) and support ads. Google Privacy Policy.
- Google AdMob provides ads (see below). How Google uses information from apps that use its services.
- Google Play Billing handles the Brain Snap Pro purchase (see below). Google Privacy Policy.
Ads and the advertising ID
Brain Snap shows ads from Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK): a banner on the Home and Stats screens (never during a game), an occasional full-screen ad after a result screen, and optional “watch an ad” rewards such as an extra hint. To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google may collect and process:
- device identifiers, such as your device’s advertising ID or app set ID
- your IP address and the approximate location worked out from it
- information about the ads you see and tap, and basic device, app, performance and diagnostic information
Google uses this to deliver, measure and protect ads and, only where you allow it, to personalise them. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and How Google uses cookies and identifiers in advertising.
Consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland, and some US states): where the law requires it, Brain Snap uses Google’s User Messaging Platform to ask for your choice before any ads load. You can change it at any time in Profile › Privacy & Data › Ad privacy choices. If you don’t consent to personalised ads, you may still see non-personalised or limited ads.
Your advertising ID: you can reset or delete it, or opt out of personalised ads, in your Android settings (usually Settings › Privacy › Ads or Settings › Google › Ads).
Ads aren’t aimed at children. Brain Snap tells Google that its users are not under the age of consent and that it isn’t directed to children, and it limits ad content to a teen (T) rating. If you buy Brain Snap Pro, the ads SDK isn’t started and no ad requests are made.
In-app purchase (Brain Snap Pro)
Brain Snap Pro is a one-time purchase sold through Google Play Billing. Google processes your payment, and we never see your card or payment details. The app receives a purchase record from Google Play (that Pro was bought, and a purchase token) to unlock Pro and remembers it on your device. Your Pro status isn’t stored in our online database. Google Play keeps the purchase record so you can restore Pro later.
How long we keep information
- Online profile, scores, friends and block list: kept while your account exists, and deleted when you delete your account.
- Friend challenges: a challenge can be played for 48 hours. It stays stored until either player clears it, or until account deletion.
- Reports are kept for moderation and player safety. Feedback is kept so we can act on it. Either can be deleted on request.
- Emails to support are kept only as long as needed to help you and keep a record of the request.
- On your device: until you clear the app’s storage or uninstall it.
- Ads and Google Play data are kept by Google under its own policies.
Your choices and deleting your data
- Delete in the app: Profile › Account › Delete account and online data, then confirm. This permanently deletes your profile, username, friend code, photo, Brain Snap scores, friend connections, friend requests, challenges and block list, and then your sign-in account.
- Delete by email: email support@emberkite.com.au with the subject “Brain Snap account deletion” and your username. We’ll confirm and delete your account and data within 30 days. Full steps: emberkite.com.au/brain-snap/delete-account.
- What in-app deletion keeps: reports you sent and feedback you sent (email us to have them deleted too).
- Emberkite: Mini Golf isn’t affected by deleting your Brain Snap account; it has its own account, which you delete in Mini Golf (Friends › Profile › Delete account). Because Brain Snap’s deletion also removes the Google sign-in account the two games can share, delete your Mini Golf account first if you want to remove both.
- Sign out at any time. Your online profile stays as it is until you delete it.
- Offline stats on your device aren’t affected. To remove them, clear the app’s storage or uninstall it.
- You can also ask us for a copy of your online data, or to correct it, by email.
Children
Brain Snap is intended for people aged 13 and over and isn’t directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Players under 13 shouldn’t use the online features. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us at support@emberkite.com.au and we’ll delete it.
Security
Data sent between the app and our service providers is encrypted in transit (TLS). Online data is protected by server-side security rules so that only you can change your own data. No method of storing or sending data is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and keep what we collect to a minimum.
We don’t sell your data
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use an analytics SDK.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app changes. The effective date at the top shows the current version. If a change is significant, we’ll note it in the app’s store listing or in the app.
